Here is that task at hand. Which episode of Removed From Play are the best? Which episodes would I recommend to a friend to start with that has never listened to Removed From Play. With 63 episodes and all of them being about 2.5 hours long this would seem like a daunting task. Except that I am a pretty epic fan boy and I have listened to all of the episodes. I just have to whittle down the 63 episodes into my favorites. At the core of Removed From Play, the podcast feels just like how you would talk with the guys at your game store. The hosts do a great job of bringing that camaraderie and banter to the podcast. But that is the feeling I get from every episode. I need to refine my search to find the best of the best. I want to pick out the episodes that are pinnacle examples of what I love about RFP.The Best of the Best
After searching through the episodes, I felt that I had to make two lists. The first list has the podcasts with really cool content and great interaction with the guest hosts .
Episode 11 and 39 have Jay Larsen from Chain Attack guest hosting the episodes. What I love about Jay and Chain Attack but combined with what’s great about RFP.
Episode 19 has Goris from the Trollblood Scrum. I am a troll at heart and this guy led me to RFP. He always has a soft spot for me but this episode is Removed From Play at their best.
Episode 23 marks the first time they bring on an International Superstar. Rickard Nilsson a.k.a. Arlaharen joins . Great discussion about the under-appreciated Minions.
Episode 29 is the 2nd time that Trevor from Chain-Attack joins the cast. Excellent podcast, Intriguing Infantry oriented discussion and all the episodes with Chain Attack hosts have turned out wonderful.
Episode 34 brings Joel La Presta on the podcast for some epic level of trolling. If Joel is Kirk…Emanuel is Kahn.
Episode 38 has one of the nicest guys in the Warmachine Community…Michael “Chilly” Winters from the Texas Renegades and the Road To War Podcast. Any episode of anything with Chilly will be aswesome.
Episode 55 was blessed with the presence of Craig Conroy. He had some Mic time with gears of Games Empire but he feels right at home with the RFP Hosts.Plus this episode is ripe with circle love. Great Podcast
Episode 60 and 61 started as a single episode but ended up so epic that it had to be split into two episodes. Think of it as Part 1 and Part 2. Anthony and the RFP guys were great and if you have a 5 hour painting session or a long drive…This would be a perfect couple of episodes for it.
The second list has the episodes that I think contain the most amazing and hilarious moments from RFP’s 63 recordings. Either great event coverage or top notch banter…or both.
Episode 26 is Tournament coverage from Templecon 2013. Live recordings with players as they finish their Masters games.
Episode 28 and 52 are the episodes where they announce winners from the Raffles that RFP has organized.
Episode 36 has my boy Pierce Tibma on the cast representing Florida. This podcast was packed with trolling and most of it was aimed at me. Hilarious.
Episode 43 and 44 were recorded at Lock and Load 2013. Emanuel and Charles recorded in the evening trying to share the experiences of the con with all the fans who could not attend. The sound quality was lower than usual but it really meant a lot to the fans. Episode 56 took the concept of “Drunk-a-sode” to a another level. So much randomness. Nothing about this episode could be planned for or expected. Chaotic and entertaining.
This should give you guys a firm standing on what to expect from Removed From Play. As always…this is Dave Blenner, the officially unofficial Quality Control Inspector for all things RFP.
